Fayetteville wasn't originally on our itinerary. As with Hershey, PA, we called an audible. While Careese and I had both been to Arkansas, the kids had only briefly passed through. Here is a notable photo from our last pass-through visit.
Careese has one of those photomaps of the United States that has a spot for a photo for every state (as seen here: https://www.thunderbunnylabs.com/). We've been working on filling in that map. Where did we take our photo to fill in the Arkansas spot on our map? The University of Arkansas? The lovely park we visited? No, we took a picture in the parking lot at Walmart. It seemed fitting for the land of Sam Walton. I will note that I tried to set up a tripod so that we could get a photo with all of us in it. For some inexplicable reason, no one else in my family was cool with me setting up a tripod in the Walmart parking lot. That's why there are only 9 of us in the photo...because apparently the rest of my family has too much dignity to take a tripod-aided Walmart selfie. Also, they insisted on taking the photo like this. Sad.
I managed to give a few books to a delightful little bookstore, Once Upon a Time Books, in Siloam Springs (just outside of Fayetteville). Enjoy the books, Arkansas. Woo pig sooie. Or, is it sooie pig woo? Or, pig woo sooie?
Anyhow, on to the next stop: Natural Falls, OK.
